Hempstead & Wigmore Conservatives
We are a Ward branch of Gillingham and Rainham Conservative Association located in Medway, a Unitary Authority in the county of Kent. This Ward returns two Councillors to sit on Medway Council and fights general election campaigns supporting sitting Member of Parliament Rehman Chishti.
Located just off Junction 4 M2 Hempstead & Wigmore is adjacent to Capstone Park to the West and sits at the northern end of the Kent Downs. Hempstead Valley Shoppng Centre is a prominent local amenity and there are links to London via Rainham Station.

Jim Gilbourne (right)
Jim is an active member of the local community in Wigmore and Hempstead, currently serving as Warden at All Saints’ Church on Hempstead Road, as well as being a member of various committees in Hempstead. These include the Village Hall, Village Fayre and Residents Association. Jim is a member of the Parochial Church Council for the parish of South Gillingham and in 2018 stablished a new amateur dramatics group The Hempstead Players, who rehearse and perform a range of plays in the local area, and hold a variety of social activities in the community hall.
Now semi-retired, Jim undertakes occasional work as a self-employed housing consultant. Jim has lived in the Medway Towns for over 22 years, the last 6 in Hempstead. Devoted to helping people ‘live better’ and enjoy the many services the council and the community can offer.
Andrew Lawrence (left)
Has lived in Hempstead for 16 years. Married with three children all of whom were born in Medway, Andrew is an insurance broker by professsion and owns a successful insurance intermediary employing 14 staff headquartered in Maidstone and with an office in Malta. Originally from South East London Andrew and his wife Rita moved to Medway in 2000.
Andrew has a passion for education becoming a Governor in 2015, he is Deputy Chair of an Academy Trust with three schools in Medway where he was the Chair of Governors.
